By Susan Duclos It should be no surprise that Comet ISON which has experts declaring it was 'weird" and "odd" before it's encounter with the sun, would be just as surprising to experts after it's rise from being declared dead with experts like&Karl Battams of NASA’s Comet ISON Observing Campaign saying yesterday about he and a colleague "Matthew Knight and I are ripping our hair out right now." From a most recent Tweet from him, it seems they are still losing said hair as he declares "Based on a few more hours of data, comet #ISON appears to be... well, behaving like a comet!" Surprise! One of the best reasoned assessments of ISON's unexpected actions after it's slingshot around the sun comes from Max Planck Gesellschaft: The Max Planck researchers base their assessment on computer simulations in which they model the shape of the dust tail. "If we assume in our calculations that the comet has emitted dust at Perihelion, we can reproduce the current images quite well," says Böhnhardt.
