A Chicago teen woman who was shot in the head was saved by her hair weave, the teen’s uncle said Tuesday. Chantal Hammontree, 18, was exiting her friend’s car when a gunman walked up and shot her in the head at point blank range. While Hammontree was critically injured, her uncle believes it was her hair weave that prevented a fatal wound, the local NBC-affiliate reports. “[Doctors] assumed that when the bullet kind of went in, it bounced out because she had the weave in her hair,” said Hammontree’s uncle, Randy Berry.
