Obama's planned annual spending bill has been voted in the Congress but has been blocked in the Senate which won't vote on it. It's been pushed back till Wednesday and a short-term spending has been voted till then. But the spending must be voted by the Senate by Monday night so as to avert the government shutdown. So, as of now the US government is on artificial respiration with a Wednesday expiration date and with a possible Monday night, latest-date, cliff-hanger.
