After Bayou Corne's 30-acre sinkhole sucked down more of south Louisiana's treasured environment, and a large portion of a well pad Wednesday, officials worry people might be next. Texas Brine Co. was releasing methane gas pressure from its failed cavern in Napoleonville Salt Dome in Assumption Parish when the latest event occurred this week. The official parish video of part of the latest event (above) shows an estimated 40-foot by 10-foot section of the well pad slowly sink beneath the sinkhole’s surface around 2:35 p.m.The sinkhole edge collapsed again, called a slough-in, as it has been doing since the sinkhole was only 400 by 400 metres in August 2012 when first spotted.
