The results provide substantial support for theories of Economic Elite Domination and for theories of Biased Pluralism, but not for theories of Majoritarian Electoral Democracy or Majoritarian Pluralism” Testing Theories of American Politics: Elites, Interest Groups and Average Citizens by Martin Gilens Princeton University and Benjamin Page Northwestern University Most people believe what we were taught in school: the USA is a “Democracy”, a representative republic, that the US economy is free and open; the US is fair, a land of equal opportunity and this is the best system known to man in the history of mankind. While most Black folks know deep down inside this has never been the case, many of us still are enmeshed in that insane groupthink and we follow in lock step with the okey-doke and flim flam despite ample evidence in our collective history and personal experience this is just not so.
