The state of nature has a law of nature to govern it, which obliges every one: and reason, which is that law, teaches all mankind, who will but consult it, that being all equal and independent, no one ought to harm another in his life, health, liberty, or possessions… Locke, John. When, as a nation, we began to frown upon reason, so too did we abandon the principles of equality and independence; and in doing so, sacrificed the very foundations of liberty. In its’ place we have built temples to democracy and to all its’ inequality, inequity, and its’ culture of dependency and moral interventionism.
