Some are celebrating, believing that Putin’s yesterday’s call to Obama means some type of retreat, some success of sanctions and Russia suddenly is withdrawing its’ troops from Crimea.In simple English: Fat Chance!Putin’s call is a prelude to taking over more territory, specificly the area of Tiraspol, which is also called Transnistu or Transdniestria.For years Russia treated this part of Moldova as a buffer zone and Putin is seeking a complete annexation of the area. Russia had it’s troops in the area for years, it was well known that a Russian tank division under General Lebed is stationed there. Transdniestria used Russian Ruble, Russian and Ukrainian population there refused to speak or write Moldovan, which is a Latin language with Latin alphabet and preferred to speak Russian or Ukranian and used Cyrillic alphabet. Big part of the population in the area are members of the Russian military and their families, many of whom settled in the area after the service.
