By Susan Duclos According to Syracuse Police a 70 year-old man was attacked by a group of five or six black males, apparently for no reason, causing the elderly man such severe injuries he had to be hospitalized. 70 year-old James Gifford had just exited a 7-11 at the intersection of Valley Drive and South Street when the group of thugs attacked him in an unprovoked incident. Law enforcement officials are working with the store to obtain surveillance images that might shed more light on the incident and provide a more specific description of the suspects. The initial investigation shows that the suspects used their hands and feet, but would not release specifics regarding Gifford's injuries.
