Just when I think government priorities are entirely out of whack, it appears as though NICS, the federal background check network will still be operational in the event of a government shutdown, which at this point seems inevitable. Hat tip to my amigo from Instagram @mr_ak47_ for the heads up on the news. In Colorado we use the CBI Instacheck system which is an online background check network. So the gov’t shutdown wouldn’t have affected us on this either way, but it’s nice to know the FBI will still be using our tax dollars.
