Stairway to Heaven: Would You Climb This Spiral Staircase?

China has a lot to offer for visitors with a good head for heights who want to see some of the country’s amazing landscapes and views, like the world’s No. 1 glass skywalk. But if you’re not fit enough, you might not be able to climb this attraction in the Taihang Mountains of Linzhou in Henan Province. Looking up from ground level. (Image: pixnet.net) This spiral ladder, known as the “Heaven Staircase,” is only open to people under 60 years of age, and you have to sign a consent form confirming that you don’t have any heart or lung problems. It is 300 feet high, and so narrow that only one person at a time can fit widthways. As well as vertigo, this staircase might make you feel dizzy! (Image: pixnet.net) Although it looks scary and no doubt would be for anyone with vertigo, the staircase is meant to give users the thrill of mountaineering without the danger. The Taihang Mountains stretch 250 miles from north to south and also extend into Shanxi, and Hebei Province. The main peak, Xiao Wutaishan, is 9,455 feet high, while most of the others range between 5,000 and 6,500 feet high. Looking down from above.
