"Alarming": Virginia Dolphin Deaths At Record Rates Worry Scientists

My own 'backyard' has become the latest 'killing ground' in the mass animal die-off that is now going on around the world as 82 stranded dolphins have washed up on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay this year with 44 strandings in July alone. Though scientists have no idea what the cause of these strandings are, the answer is quite clear to me and follows a very clear pattern dating back to the BP oil spill in 2010 and the deadly 'corexit' response from authorities to mask the oil. When will we learn that what we do to the Earth, we do to ourselves and all creatures upon it? When will BP pay for their crimes?

Breast Feeding Longer Makes Children Smarter

Research published in JAMA Pediatrics this week shows a causal relationship between breastfeeding and higher IQ by the time a child is seven years old. Put simply, longer breastfeeding appears to make for smarter children. Credit: Wikipedia This is just another piece of scientific proof of the wonders of breastfeeding. Its benefits for gut development and immunity have been widely reported, but studies looking at breastfeeding’s effects on brain development have so far been poorly designed, showing only weak positive effects.
