Although they may not be able to talk back, a new study has shown that when it comes to hearing what we say to them, dogs are great listeners. Anyone who has studied the way in which humans communicate with each other will be aware that non-verbal communication - elements other than simply the words used - is more significant than what we actually say. Now, researchers at the University of Sussex, UK, have found that dogs focus on how we say things as well as identifying the words we speak.
