In a statement from JetBlue it was said the pilot diverted to Detroit in an "abundance of caution." Coincidentally, in 2012, JetBlue Flight 191 from New York to Las Vegas was diverted when the pilot went on what was described by Diane Sawyer as a "deranged outburst," as he began shouting about bombs, al Qaeda, and telling passengers to say their prayers. The flight was diverted to Amarillo, Texas.
