An all too clear sign of lame-duckery was on display this week as Senate Democrats in partnership with several Republicans, pushed back against the Obama White House by threatening passage of a bill requiring they have approval authority over the now pending and highly controversial Iran nuke deal. The Obama White House just quietly caved, conceding to the senate their demands in the hopes of avoiding a face-off that would most likely leave the administration soundly defeated. The president’s mood regarding the showdown between himself and leading Senate Democrats was to initially pout and complain, and then as he does so often, defer the matter entirely to political operatives who answer to Valerie Jarrett as the president and his entourage flew out of D.C. to embrace Cuban Dictator Raul Castro.
