The penalty for High Treason is death by US law. That's what SCOTUS hands down for High Treason. Being accomplices to such a crime is indeed grave for these officials and they are closely held to their pledge to investigate and prosecute any crime given to the scrutiny of their examination. The US president is not in any case and under any circumstances, to be covered up for and abetted in any crime.
