Khamenei: Cotton’s Letter Signals Internal Disintegration In The United States

On Tuesday, State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki told reporters that the deal being worked out between the P5+1 and Iran would be a “non-binding arrangement.” The remark immediately sparked an exchange in which reporters asked what that could mean. They were told it’s “a legal term” and “legal terminology.” On Wednesday, Secretary of State John Kerry told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee the same thing: “We’ve been clear from the beginning we’re not negotiating a legally binding plan.” The State Department admissions came in the aftermath of the ‘Iran letter’ written by Sen. Tom Cotton and signed by 46 other Senators. The letter said that circumventing Congress would cripple any deal, in the sense that unilateral actions by the current president could be instantly reversed by the next one.
