Hubble Eyes A Mysterious Old Spiral

This striking cosmic whirl is the center of galaxy NGC 524, as seen with the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope. This galaxy is located in the constellation of Pisces, some 90 million light-years from Earth.Credit: ESA/Hubble & NASA, Acknowledgement: Judy Schmidt NGC 524 is a lenticular galaxy. Lenticular galaxies are believed to be an intermediate state in galactic evolution — they are neither elliptical nor spiral. Spirals are middle-aged galaxies with vast, pin wheeling arms that contain millions of stars.

Two examples: http://www.wretch.cc/album/show.php?i=lin440315&b=20&f=1556941582&p=492 http://www.wretch.cc/album/show.php?i=lin440315&b=20&f=1556926150&p=479&sp=0 Image sources: http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/msl/multimedia/raw/?rawid=0316MR1298000000E1_DXXX&s=316 http://www.flickr.com/photos/hortonheardawho/9183456865/ Meanwhile, please note Martian rivers full of blood, etc. could contaminate concrete pavements just as the cellular-fossil-containing dust on Mars can contaminate objects on Mars.
