Egyptian Solders Massacre Muslim Brotherhood 'Protesters', 50 Dead, 500 Wounded, Spectre Of Civil War Looms Large



As many as 50 people were killed early Monday morning as troops opened fire on Muslim Brotherhood protesters outside the Presidential Guard facility where deposed president Mohamed Morsi is believed to be held under arrest. Military spokespeople said that soldiers fired after “a terrorist group” attacked the heavily-defended compound shortly after dawn prayers. Witnesses said they saw no sign of any such attack. Clashes raged in front of the Presidential Palace for 7 hours.
